Beautiful Fruit

Esther 2:5-18
Three times in Esther 2:5-18 it says of Esther that she “won the favor” of Hegai, who was head of the king’s harem. Everyone who saw her, even King Xerxes himself, saw Esther had an inner beauty. Even though we do not have a portrait of her, we can understand from scripture that Esther’s gentle and quiet spirit was most winsome and ageless.
Once in a while you will see a couple walking happily down the street completely in love. You might whisper under your breath, “What does she sees in him?” If you were to ask her to describe him, she might say something like, “He is the nicest guy I have ever met. I feel safe with him. He respects me and I know he loves me for who I am.”
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). These wrinkle-free Christlike characteristics are ageless, no amount of makeup can produce them or hide their absence.
