Exodus 15:1-21

“King of Kings and Lord of Lords!” “And He shall reign forever and ever!” Hear the music in your head with the sopranos, altos, tenors, and bass sections taking their turn singing each phrase? You know the words and the music come from Handel’s Messiah, the “Hallelujah Chorus.” It is one of the most majestic and worshipful music scores ever composed. To this day audiences stand to their feet when the “Hallelujah Chorus” begins in honor of the One it celebrates, Christ the risen King.

The song of Moses and Miriam was Israel’s Handel’s Messiah. By singing it they relived the moments when God rescued them from certain death. Trapped against the shores of the sea without an exit route, Israel had no options without God’s intervention. Then the sea opened and they passed though on dry ground. Once safely across, the sea closed back cutting off the Egyptian army. This event was celebrated each time Israel sang this song of praise. It was their “Halleluiah Moment.”

What is a halleluiah moment you need to celebrate today?
