Philippians 2:12-18

Doing God’s will is not nearly as difficult as getting to the place where you really want to do it. Are you there yet? Is doing what God wants more important than doing what you want? This is an arduous struggle for many. The believer must come to the place where his or her dreams and plans are subservient to God’s will. There is an abiding peace that enters the heart of the one who surrenders to God’s will. Once that consecration is made, God can really work in you.

Philippians 2:13 in the Contemporary English Version reads, “God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.” Once you are willing, God makes you able to fulfill his will. This is a divine partnership. Doing God’s will is not horrible: It’s beautiful. The Holy Spirit, who is not just with you but in you, will give you the strength to do his will.

Are you willing? He will make you able! And you will have discovered the privilege of participating in his “good purposes.”
