Luke 24:36-49
I have vivid childhood memories of sitting in a church pew on a Sunday night with my head in my mom’s lap while she combed my hair with her fingers. After singing a few songs to begin the evening service, different people in the congregation would make their way forward to the microphone and take their turn sharing what God was doing in their lives. The testimonies of transformation were incredible! Broken marriages were mended, addictions were broken, and physical ailments were healed. Though my young mind didn’t fully comprehend everything that was being spoken, I knew one thing was true for sure: God had the power to do some pretty amazing things in some pretty ordinary people!
My hope is that we will never take for granted the victory we have in Christ over the more hidden sin in our lives: freedom from fear, breakthrough in jealousy, and defeat of hopelessness to name a few. Though these things aren’t as easily “seen” by those around us, those victories we hold deep in our hearts are clear evidence of God’s transforming work in our lives.
