We Had Hope

Jesus is never past tense. He is the ever living, ever loving, always interceding Son of God. He lives by the power of God. He was, and is, and is to come.
Two of Jesus’ disciples did not yet have the kind of faith in Christ that would keep their hope in the present tense. When an unidentified stranger joined them and asked what was wrong, “They stood still, their faces downcast” (Luke 24:17).
The stranger was Jesus, but they did not recognize him. They opened their hearts to him about their pain. They told him of “Jesus of Nazareth . . . powerful in word and deed before God” (Luke 24:19). Jealous rulers had crucified him. They said, “[W]e had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:21).
Maybe your hope has been smashed. Heartaches and heartbreaks are all around us. But we can open our hearts to him about our pain. Jesus lives. Call on him and hope will return.

How can we find out who the current authors of these devotionals are? It was great when we could see in the books who was writing them. Adds a personal connection.

Would it be possible to add that to the emailed version, please? I forward these e-meditations daily to bout 30 people in my church. They would like to know this information, as well.
