The Source of Salvation

RG AUDIO 120711Luke 1:67-80
Where does salvation come from? Does it come from casting things in a more positive light so we don’t become discouraged and quit? Does it come from a lucky break? Does it come because we are righteous and deserve for it to come our way?
We all need Christ’s salvation. Without it we remain in darkness, with eternal death as our only future. However, when we receive God’s mercy everything changes. Proclaiming this salvation is the sole task of Jesus’ people, until he returns.
Followers of Jesus are not always welcome when they bring the message of mercy and peace. John the Baptist was not appreciated either; he was executed shortly after announcing Jesus as the promised Savior (Matt. 14:1ff.). The beauty of the gospel is shown in God’s power to save those who believe in him. We are to tell others that Jesus has come to save them, whatever their background, because as John said, “[Jesus] takes away the sins of the world!” (John 1:29).
