Deuteronomy 31:30-32:11

An energy audit informed us that we needed new doors for our home. Fitting new doors into an older home can be difficult and expensive. When we got bids, they said it would require extra work to install the new doors. Each evening during family devotions, I prayed the work would go smoothly without additional expense. A young carpenter from our church installed the doors on his day off. Both door openings required some adjustment, which he made without difficulty. I rejoiced and said to my wife, “I can’t believe it went so well. I am so surprised.”

She replied, “I don’t know why you are surprised. You have been praying about it for days.” Our God is generously good. He answers our prayers even when we don’t see a solution.

There would be only one source of salvation if Israel was to survive. It was not in military strength; they were a small nation. It was not because they were righteous; they were sinners. They could not expect God to honor their prayer, yet God heard–and answered. “Oh, praise the greatness of our God!”
