The verb save, in various tenses, is referenced 304 times in the Bible. Cover to cover, God’s message is clear; He is in the saving business.

With loving promises and vibrant word pictures, the Old Testament identifies God’s mission to comfort and redeem hurting and broken people.

With the accuracy of a surgeon’s scalpel, Doctor Luke defines the purpose of our Lord’s task on earth, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” The apostle Paul affirms Christ’s intentions when writing to Timothy, his young apprentice, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

Our joy, peace, and eternal hope are only possible through a loving God who saves. We are surrounded by children, teens, college students, young adults, and grandparents who are eternally lost.

What a privilege we have in pointing the lost to “a God who saves.”
