Mark 10:46-52

How long have we been shouting for mercy; clamoring, crying out, making noise? Yet, no one around us seems to ask the simple question, “What do you want me to do for you?” In fact, many have rebuked us; told us to be quiet. Jesus sees straight into our heart and stops to ask the obvious, burning question others neglect or resist.

When we finally get that intimate audience with Jesus, let’s just cut to the chase: “Jesus, I want to see!” We all long to hear Jesus say, “Your faith has healed you!” To receive that answer, our requests must not only be specific, but our hearts must be pure.

In Mark 10, Jesus asked James and John the very same question: “What do you want me to do for you?” (Mark 10:36). These disciples were lost in selfish ambition.

Desire matters. Be sure to flesh out the purity of your desire, not just the specificity of it. Be ready to receive by faith when Jesus comes calling.
