Mark 12:28-34

My father and his cousin were walking along a road in a forest. They rounded a corner and suddenly came upon a bear. They quickly turned around and went the other way. Thankfully the bear did not follow. They knew it was not in their best interest to encounter a bear.

When we travel the road of life, sometimes we round a corner and suddenly come upon temptation. Yet loving the Lord with all our hearts, souls, and minds means turning away from temptation. Like my dad and his cousin fled from the bear, let us flee from temptation to remain in a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ.

Pray for power through the Holy Spirit to resist temptation. As God has promised: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). Isn’t God amazing? The Holy Spirit will give us the strength we need to resist temptation.
