God Does the Calling

Exodus 3:1-11
One of the great milestones of parenting is when your child first calls you “Mama” or “Dada.” Realizing that your child knows your “name,” and associates that word with you as a person, brings joy and excitement to parents and grandparents alike.
Can you imagine what it felt like for Moses when he realized that God was calling him by name? Our names are such a personal part of who we are. God knew him as a person, He knew him better than anyone, and He knew Moses was the right leader to bring God’s children out of Egypt and into the promised land.
God still calls his children to serve Him, in ways big and small, to lead His people out of this world of sin and into the new birth in Jesus Christ. His calling does not look the same in each life—we are all called to live in Christ-like ways where God places us. Are you listening for Him to call your name?
