Prueba de sabor

Ephesians 2:1-10.

As a child, I loved going out for ice cream with my family. My favorite shop? The one that gave out taste tests, of course! Who doesn’t want to sample the sweetness and delight that is to come?

A couple weeks ago, we crested the pinnacle of the church year as we celebrated Easter by remembering and rejoicing in the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus did battle with the powers of darkness and by the power of the Spirit arose victorious. To think, Jesus is the first fruit of those raised to new life, a taste test of what is to come! What God has done in and for Jesus, God will also do for those who trust fully in the faithfulness of Jesus.

The taste test of joy we experience in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead will give way to abundance, to the incomparable riches of God’s grace. As we await the day of the Lord, when new creation will burst forth in its fullness, we cast ourselves on the trustworthiness of God’s work on our behalf and respond with good works as offerings of love.
