El poder de la resurrección en acción

Abril 11th, 2026

1 Peter 1:1-9.

Peter, much to his chagrin, had a front row seat on the night Jesus was betrayed. He was with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Asleep, but he was there. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter drew his sword, ready to fight. He missed the servant’s head and clipped his ear. Peter’s failures were far worse than poor aim, as he later cowardly denied knowing Jesus to a servant girl. It was not his finest hour.

Following the resurrection, John tells how Jesus graciously restored and included Peter in His mission to save the world. Then, on the Day of Pentecost, Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, preached a powerful message, and 3,000 were saved. Peter became the rock on which Christ built His church as Jesus had foretold.

Some 30 years later, writing to the persecuted church, Peter was still proclaiming the good news of the resurrected Jesus Christ. The power of the resurrection is not simply knowing the story of Easter but encountering the risen Savior.

The risen Lord powerfully takes and shields us through all of life circumstances. Peter reminds the persecuted first-century church (and us) that we can always trust in Jesus.
