Energía restaurada

Luke 9:1-9.
When the garbage disposal didn’t work, I assumed it was broken. I flipped the switch. Nothing. It must be broken. Yet on further inspection, we soon discovered our problem was not the disposal, but the circuit breaker. It was wiggly. It wouldn’t flip on. I tried. I couldn’t do it. It was broken.
The next night, an electrician friend came over to fix our “major electrical project.” He went straight to the electrical circuit panel, found the offending breaker, and flipped it on. Power to the garbage disposal was restored. Boom. Just like that. He simply flipped it on. No tools. No rubber gloves. No calling the electrical company. See the switch. Flip the switch. Power restored. That’s it. Ugh. It wasn’t broken at all. It had just flipped off and I was too timid in my attempt to flip it on.
My electrical woes reflect some of our spiritual efforts. We have no power in our lives. We might recognize the problem and even make a weak attempt to fix the problem. Yet the problem persists. No power. We need a Friend (notice the capital “F”) who sees our problem and restores the power in our lives. We need Jesus!
