Proverbs 30:1-6.

As we look around at work, at church, and maybe at home, it’s easy to relate to Agur. We become overwhelmed with our inability to do what God requires. Our desire to know God is often stifled by our own inability to make it happen.

Thanks be to God that our ability is not what grows us! Jesus our Redeemer, the Lover of our souls, not only reconciles us to God but works in us by the power of the Holy Spirit to spur us on in growth of faith, holiness, and love. Unlike Agur, we have the knowledge of Jesus. Jesus shields us as we submit to Him and His will.

Jesus also understands the questions that come in this life. Jesus experienced life firsthand. Jesus was not shielded from the things of the world. As Agur called out to God, we can confidently call out to Jesus with our questions, insecurities, and lack of understanding.

As we think about hard issues, we can have confidence in knowing that we don’t face the things of this world alone. God is with us, and He wants us to know Him more fully.
