Fidélité dans l’unité

Philippians 1:27—2:4.

This week I received a phone call from a friend. She said she needed a safe place to vent, and I silently praised God that I could be that safe place for her! She said, “I’m just over it all: the politics, the drama, the mess, and the arguing.”

I completely understood what she was going through. I listened and tried to be present with her (through the phone) in her distress. The next day I called her to check on her, and I reminded her that even when the world seems to be in chaos, we are not. We are not bound by this world. We are, as Paul writes, citizens of heaven. So, we keep working in our little piece of the kingdom. We keep living, we keep doing good, we keep offering grace and peace, we keep “striving together as one for the faith of the gospel” (v. 27).

God calls His people to live for Him no matter the circumstances; even when Israel was in exile, He wanted them to work for peace and prosperity (Jeremiah 29:7). It’s true that these are troubling times. Yet God is still with us!
