Ephesians 4:1-6.

To be worthy means to have or show qualities or abilities that deserve recognition in a specific way. Depending on the qualities or abilities specified, one could be worthy of a variety of things. Determining what the qualities or abilities are can help you live a life that is worthy.

Paul defined what the qualities and abilities are that make the life of a Christ-follower worthy. The list he shared embodies the characteristics of Christ: completely humble and gentle; patient (bearing with one another in love); and keeping the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (vv. 2-3).

This is no easy list. Not a single person can be worthy of those specific qualities without the work of Christ through the Spirit. Paul directed the church to remember that they are a part of a group, the body of Christ (vv. 4-6). This unity is steeped in the oneness of the Lord, the faith, our baptism, and God the Father.

As we live through times when communities, friends, families are being divided by the world, let us lean into the community of our faith that unifies us through the Trinity—Father, Son, and Spirit.
