Matthew 25:14-21.
Have you ever heard the saying, « Bloom where you’re planted »? The meaning of this proverb/statement is that each of us must understand where we are in our current situation and set of circumstances, but still choose to grow and flourish despite challenges, barriers, or possible limitations.
In Matthew 25, Jesus centers a parable on a master who gives his three servants a certain number of talents (money). The amount given is not equal among them but based on each one’s ability. Two servants doubled their talents, while one buried his.
Notice, the master gave no instructions on how they were to use their talents or how much of an increase he expected of them. However, his response, « Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things, » indicates an unspoken expectation that they were to do something with the talents they were given.
We often look at ourselves and circumstances as lacking and are tempted to do nothing. However, Jesus is telling us, be who you are, give what you have, make a difference where you are. It’s not about you. It’s about taking what you have and allowing God to work through your life.
Today, bloom where you’re planted in the kingdom of God for the glory of God!
