In Turn, Give…

Deuteronomy 26:11-15.
If we look hard enough, we can inevitably see the grace of God in our lives. No matter your circumstances, God’s grace has gone before each of us, drawing us to God, calling us to Him. Some of us might be able to see the brilliance of God’s grace like the light of midday, shining over all our lives. Others may have to look to see the breaking of dawn, washing our lives with light.
Whatever it looks like, God’s grace is something to rejoice over. Today’s passage is clear about rejoicing in all the good things that come from the Lord.
If we read further in today’s passage, we read that this grace, these good things, evoke a response: praise and following of God’s commands. Grace and our obedience to God’s guidance go hand in hand. Our response to God’s grace and obedience to God’s commands—which includes caring for those around us (the servants of God, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow)—cannot be divorced from each other.
The cyclical pattern of blessing others, being blessed, and blessing others is how God intends for us to live. We are the vessels of God’s generous grace, receiving and giving continually.
