All The Hungry People

Luke 9:10-17

When we read about the miracle of the loaves and the fish, sometimes we focus on the miracle itself. It is amazing that Jesus turned a few loaves and fish into food for the multitude, but it also teaches us something about Jesus beyond His ability to transform a little into a lot. It tells us that Jesus cares about the physical needs of people. The people were hungry, and He cared about that.

Sometimes we can get caught up caring for the spiritual wellbeing of others, without caring for the physical. Jesus knew however, that they are all tied up together. Bodies mattered to Jesus, so they should matter to us too.

When we see hungry people, we can and should feed them. Sometimes, it can be a challenge to think about how, but we can trust God. We can share out of our abundance, and we can share what we have in trust that God will care for us.

Because we know that Jesus cares for hungry people, we can join the work of God in the world and care for hungry people too, even if all we have to offer is little.
