Holy Spirit Lead Us
May 4th, 2025
Psalm 143:1-12
The pinnacle of mountain climbing is Mount Everest. At almost 30,000 feet, few have made the grueling journey to the summit. Although there are organizations that plan and provide climbers with all the needed supplies, every climber needs a guide. These guides, Sherpas from eastern Nepal, know the terrain well and go on multiple climbs with their clients. Sir Edmund Hillary, the first to climb to the summit in 1953, did so with the assistance of his Sherpa porter, Tenzing Norgay.
A Sherpa porter is really more than a guide. They are responsible for the direction, health, oxygen, supplies, and, ultimately, lives of their clients.
In our spiritual journey, the Holy Spirit is like a Sherpa, a guide with the intention of leading us through our walk with His presence and resources. We might believe we can do it on our own, have enough education, and sometimes even purpose, but if we want to succeed, we must completely depend on the Holy Spirit to lead us on our journey.
