Truth Must Be Told

John 9:24-34
I have always delighted in the formerly blind man’s words in John 9:30, “You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.” He was blind and now he saw! It was amazing, yet true. Yet his accusers—the Pharisees—interpreted this healing as breaking the Mosaic law—”working on the Sabbath.” Although Jesus had done a “God thing,” all the Pharisees cared about was putting the blame on Jesus for healing the man on the Sabbath.
God’s truth is not always received with open arms. Why is this? Because it exposes the falseness of the worldly perspective, laying bare the lies the enemy tries to get us to believe.
First John 4:6 says, “We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” We are called to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). As we do, we may find the truth is not always welcomed and, at times, met with resistance. However, don’t be silent—speak it anyway!
