Kindness and Love

Titus 3:1-8

Titus 3 starts with a people who were foolish and disobedient, who were slaves to all kinds of ungodly passions. They hated people, and they were hated themselves. It ends with a people who are saved, washed clean, made righteous by grace, and are now heirs of God with the hope of eternal life.

Here we have the same group of people who begin the story as some of the most pitiful, sinful people one can imagine, and who end the story as heirs to the kingdom. What happened to these people? The answer is in verse 4: “The kindness and love of God appeared” and did for them what they were powerless to do themselves.

I wonder: Where do we see the kindness and love of God appearing among hopeless people these days? Make no mistake: It does appear. It does still save people. It does still transform lives.

I wonder: Where in my world do I see it happening? Do I have eyes to see it? Do I have the courage to go and join it?
