A couple of years ago, I decided to become a substitute teacher in my local community school. It was a great way to support my local school. It was a whirlwind of schooling for me as I jumped into the role.
One of my most memorable takeaways from my time as a substitute was the importance of time. To be more precise, follow the schedule to the minute. You see, I fall in the category of people who are “late” if they aren’t early. I would show up to every college class 10 minutes before the start time. I cannot arrive on time and feel like I am on time. I need to be ahead of time.
That doesn’t work in the classroom. I discovered this when I brought my second-grade class down to the art room and arrived five minutes before the official scheduled time. I was way too early and the teacher was finishing with another class. Teachers, I learned, mean exactly the time they schedule. Not a minute more or less.
God is on time, every time. While it may not feel like it to us, God is never late or too early. God is on time. Trust His timing.

I always at least read this podcast each presentation but do not always comment. When it hits home I do.
In 1961 I applied to Northwest Nazarene College. I was accepted but soon realized that my readiness to do the level of work would preclude immediate enrollment. Instruction I joins the USAF. I was eighteen years old.
After discharge I worked. And took classes at a community college and completed two years. Still unprepared to make the four year commitment.
At the age of 54 I responded to a lifetime call to ministry. Without all the detail I prayed daily for how to prepare . I interviewed with the entrance officer at George Fox University thinly that I would enroll in the adult Batchelor program. Telling my life story I was asked to present a written narrative concerning my reasons for applying.
Part of My narrative discussed my call to Christian Ministry. Two weeks later I was asked to meet with the admissions department and was convinced to do some leveling work to be admitted to the Seminary of then Western Evangelical Seminary.
