Promises Kept

Acts 4:8-14
What a difference the resurrection makes! First, we should note that it was in the person of Jesus that the promise made to Daniel in Daniel 9 was fulfilled. Second, we should see the difference this kept promise makes in the world and particularly in the life of Peter in this text.
On the night that Jesus was arrested, Peter denied even knowing him three times out of the fear and sense of self-preservation that possessed him. Now, he was bold, standing in front of the very people who orchestrated Jesus’ execution, reminding them that they crucified Jesus, but God had raised Him from the dead, and that it was because of Jesus that the formerly lame man had been healed.
What changed? “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus” (v. 13).
We may be unschooled and we’re probably fairly ordinary, but if we have been with Jesus, that will make all the difference.
