Genuine Praise

July 15th, 2024

Revelation 4:1-11

Picasso and Da Vinci have nothing on young artists. To the untrained eye, it might appear that the page of these young artists contains only colorful lines. The first response certainly wouldn’t be to place the work prominently for all to see. However, those who have had the privilege of displaying a three-year-old’s latest masterpiece know the proper response is to praise the creator. Often, our praise is genuine because we know that the child has brought us their best.

If a critic were to write a review, it might go something like this: The bold use of lines complements the whimsical squiggles that serve as the focal point of the work. The monochromatic shading speaks to the artist’s love of blue.

We as Christ-followers owe all glory and honor to our Creator. Our praise is genuine because we know that there is nothing better than what God has given us. The apostle John penned an appropriate critique: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things (v. 11).
