Give Him Praise
June 17th, 2024
Psalm 65:1-7
Praise is essentially our acknowledgment of God for who He is in our lives and His sovereignty over all. Praise is an expression that emerges from a soul that is in communion with Him.
God desires our praise but not because He needs it for affirmation. When Jesus said that if His disciples remained silent, “the stones will cry out,” (Luke 19:40), He wasn’t suggesting He needed to hear their praise. Jesus was setting the record straight that the Son of God warrants the acknowledgement of everyone and everything that has breath.
Think about the relationships you have with others; think about what happens to you when you praise others. After decades of teaching, I have seen the positive effects of praise on the one who praises. I have noticed that when I praise a student for a good grade or even a good effort, I find that I become more invested in that student. God knows that praising Him builds our relationship with Him, and that’s why He wants our praise.
