The Land of the Living

April 21st, 2024

Psalm 116:1-9

God doesn’t have to save us. Yet, God chooses to enter into the mess of a fallen world. Our natural response is love and praise. “Thank you, God, for intervening and saving me!” When we are delivered from the clutches of evil, what joy there is on the other side! Relief. Peace. Rest. Gratitude. These are life-giving gifts that God gives us when we cry out in anguish, thankful that God gave us strength to make it through the fire.

God wants us to know that we don’t need to wait until Jesus returns to experience the life and light of God’s eternity. Jesus came to bring life in its fullness. That is not some future promise. It is a promise we live into every day as believers.

As Christians, we are optimistic that we don’t have to wait to experience life. It is here, now. The kingdom of God has come to us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The church is tasked with showing others that they can also live in the land of the living.
