The Power of Testimony
April 18th, 2024
2 Corinthians 4:10-18
When Carol was a girl, they had old-fashioned “testimony services” at church. Some shared the same testimony every time. Some quoted a passage of hope that meant something to them that week. Others talked about a fresh presence of God in their lives. All these years later, Carol remembers some of these testimonies, and they encourage her still.
I imagine that there are not many “testimony services” these days—not like the ones I experienced. Stories of God’s faithfulness are still being told through testimonies on social media and podcasts. We may long to move backwards to those days of services dedicated to testimonies. However, God is always moving forward, not backward. God wants to harness tools in this present day that will call new generations to faith in Christ.
Is the church taking advantage of what is available today to continue sharing stories of the faith? We testify so that others will know and be encouraged in their own walk with God. When was the last time you gave testimony to God’s movement in your own life?
