Known By God

March 11th, 2024

1 Corinthians 8:1-6

I’m sitting next my daughter’s sleeping cat. Although she denies it, I feel deep in my heart that she prayed and asked God to send her that cat. She probably realized the only way she was getting a feline friend was for God to personally deliver it. (In a sense, God did. It was born under a building next to our house).

Anyone who’s been a Christ-follower for a while knows that God doesn’t always answer prayers as we wish He would. We know that God answers prayers in ways that are most beneficial for us. He knows what is best because each and every one of us is known by God. He knows our deepest desires, wants, and wishes. I truly believe that sometimes God grants requests because He knows it would make us happy. After all, don’t most parents do the same thing for their children?

I hope that today you find comfort in the fact that your Heavenly Father doesn’t just know about you, but truly knows you. Like any good parent, God not only meets our needs, but the occasional want as well—like sending a little lady the kitten her heart yearned for.
