Walk The Walk

January 23rd, 2024

Luke 13:1-9

Have you ever talked with someone who was saying one thing but their face and mannerisms were saying another? Part of what a school counselor does is check the consistency between what a student is saying and what his/her face and behaviorsare saying.

Do we know God or do we just know stuff about God? In English, we have one word for “know.” In German, there are two different words: kennen is to know a person or place, and wissen is to know a fact. We could ask ourselves which verb to use for our relationship with God. Knowing information about God is different from knowing God.

How we live out what we believe is more important than what we say we believe. When we move from wissen to kennen, than our lives will reflect the words we say. Our “affect” will match what we say, and our walk with match our talk.

Allow God to examine your heart and behaviors today. Ask for God’s help to match your talk and walk.
