Love Lifted Me

1 John 4:7-16
Motherhood has given Teanna a glimpse into the depths of God’s love for her. It is in those moments when one of her daughters says, “Mom, I love you” and she responds, “I love you more” that she begins to realize the value and depth of the Father’s love. Or beyond that, in the teenage years when emotions ran high and ugly words sometimes flowed, there was nothing they could say that would stop the deep river of her love for them.
If I could really get my mind around how God loves, I would be fundamentally changed.
1 John 4:16 encourages us to “rely on the love God has for us” (v. 16). Let that sink down into the depths of your soul for a minute. Relying on God’s love means drawing strength and assurance from a love that will never waiver, will never run out, will never turn into something ugly.
God’s love for you is a strength beyond anything that you have ever imagined. How would your life be different if you embraced God’s unwavering, steady love?
