The Foundation

Isaiah 33:1-6
The COVID 19 pandemic was tough. I remember standing in a rehearsal for the winter drum line group I teach, telling them, “Students, treat every rehearsal like it’s your last, because we could very well get a phone call tomorrow that ends the entire season.” Sure enough, the next day that phone call came. The season was over. In one day, everything changed.
I remember discussions in our local church about safety, masks, and about if, when, and where we should meet. No one saw it coming, and almost none felt themselves prepared for it. It made me wonder what might happen next.
These memories make the good news that comes to us from Isaiah 33 explode onto the scene: The Lord “will be the sure foundation for your times” (v. 6). For our times. For pandemics and world-changing events, for political changes, and cultural shifts. Challenges will come. The future will bring crises we’ve never faced before. However, the Sure Foundation, who is a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge, will be with us!
