Our Rescue

October 14th, 2023

Acts 12:8-17

Peter was bound to two guards, guards at every exit, and an iron gate. The effectiveness of these obstacles dissolved when confronted by the will of God.

Yet, Peter did not grasp the reality of his new situation until the angel who had accompanied him disappeared. It is only when Peter finds himself alone on an empty lane that Peter understood his reality; his future had been changed. This was more than a dream, more than a vision. Peter was free! The very steps that had been taken to assure his imprisonment were the proof of rescue through the will and hand of God.

What appears to be inescapable in your life? In the life of your community of faith?

Many times, the discovery of our freedom from that which once bound us requires finding a place of solitude where contemplation on the power and presence of God is possible. There we will encounter God, the source of our rescue.
