Do Good and Right
October 2nd, 2023
2 Chronicles 34:1-7
There’s a recurring pattern we find in 2 Chronicles 34: the faithful kings of Israel doing good and right in the eyes of the Lord and those unfaithful kings doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.
As Christ followers we commit to doing good and right in the eyes of the Lord, not just in our own eyes. We’re seeking God when we purge the ways in our lives that don’t conform to Jesus’ way; we’re doing good and right in the eyes of the Lord. When we stand up and speak out for the marginalized and oppressed we‘re seeking God’s will.
What does contending for the good and right in the sight of the Lord—and not just in our own eyes—look like? Are we being faithful to the holy call “to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8, nrsv)
Lord, help us by your Spirit to do good and right/just in your eyes for your glory through Jesus Christ. Amen.
