Acts 2:14-21
I am married to a pastor. That statement is a challenge for some folks, because I am male, and my pastor-spouse is female. I remember one church board member in one of the churches we co-pastored. During a pastoral review, she said to the District Superintendent, “When I heard we were getting a woman preacher, I thought, ‘This is going to take some getting used to.’ Boy am I glad I got used to it!”
My wife is living out one of the promises of Pentecost: that in these last days, when God’s Spirit is poured out, our sons and daughters will prophesy, and even men and women servants will prophesy (Acts 2:17-18). Young and old, male and female, slave and free . . . It sure sounds like in this passage all kinds of people will be called to speak the Word of the Lord. This calling, and this speaking, happens only through the gifts bestowed by the Spirit, and it turns out the Spirit can be poured out on everyone.
I am so thankful to be a part of a faith tradition that recognizes these truths!

Amen brother. I too am married to my pastor. My wife is a retired Free Methodist and Nazarene pastor. Praise the Lord for Galatians 3:28!
