Convincing Proof

Acts 1:1-11

“I only believe what I can see!” He shouted. His hands and feet were shackled to a bolt in the interview room floor. He turned as best he could away from me.

“So do I,” I replied. He turned his neck to look me in the eye. “I have seen lives changed,” I continued. “I have seen bodies healed, addictions broken, families restored. I’ve seen Him take away anger, fear, and pain. He did it for me, and He will do it for you.” He leaned his head back against the wall, closed his eyes, and let out a sigh.

“Well, maybe that’s alright for you,” he finally mumbled. His eyes still closed.

“Not just for me,” I said. “For you, too. Open your eyes. God is working in your life. We have all sinned. That is why Jesus came to die on the cross. He can change your life. This doesn’t have to be an end, it can be a beginning.”

He folded his hands and bent over in his chair. For some time he said nothing. Then I saw a tear drop to the gray concrete floor. I needed no further proof. God was near.
