Power In Prayer

Mark 14:32-36

The relationship of the Holy Spirit, a holy life, and power in prayer are inseparable. The Lord prayed before His baptism in the Jordan. His prayer opened heaven, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him. Because He prayed, He heard the voice of His Father speak assurance and affirmation.

The saving, sanctifying, and healing ministry of the Lord was powerfully effective because of His prayer life. As Jesus began His public ministry, He selected disciples, healed the sick, raised the dead, and calmed the sea through prayer. Now in the garden, once again the Lord prayed. His desire was to do the will of the Father without separation from Him even as He became sin for us through the sacrifice of His sinless life on the cross.

A life of personal holiness empowers our prayers and enables us to live in continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
