There Is Joy in Faithfulness
January 15th, 2023
Jude 1:17-25
We have two dogs in our house. The oldest is 14 and the youngest is 6. Our older dog, Zoe, used to have a penchant for running off down the street to smell the neighbor’s roses. Once instead of following along and running down the street our younger dog, Porsche, stayed in the yard with us. We made sure that we expressed how proud we were that she made a good decision to remain in the yard. Her response to us was a short little stubby tail wagging back and forth at about 100 miles an hour as she licked our faces in excitement.
Jude writes to a group of believers who have been infiltrated by false teachers. These teachers were spreading a gospel other than that entrusted to the apostles. He concludes his letter to this group of believers with what we call the “doxology” which expresses a joy only found in faithful living to the one true God. When we live faithfully for God we discover an unmatched joy, the kind of joy that might just cause us to wag our tail!
