Be Humble Before God
January 12th, 2023
Psalm 119:113-120
I enjoy making things with my hands. Sometimes, I even think I’m pretty talented. I’ve made a natural edge, river runs through it, table out of an old tree which came off of some family property. Every time I look at it I’m quite amazed by my abilities. I have to be reminded that I didn’t build this table all on my own, but rather with the help of an even more talented woodworker at our church.
Sometimes when we are doing well following God it is easy for us to think we have it all figured out. Too easily we can become arrogant and think we’ve accomplished some great task. Psalm 119 reminds us that God is our ultimate provider, caretaker, and ability-giver. With this knowledge we can’t help but be humbled in the presence of one who is greater than ourselves. This reminder causes the Psalmist’s body literally to tingle in awe of all that God does for him and the judgements He makes on his behalf.
May you tingle in awe of what God does on your behalf as you humble yourself before Him.
