Commit To Do It God’s Way

Proverbs 16:1-9
Proverbs 16 reminds us that while we can make all the plans in the world and believe them to be the best thing to do, our real inner motives are known to God. The final outcome is in His hands. If you want your plans to succeed, make sure the Lord is the One heading them up.
Some people wonder: why make plans if the result does not depend on us but on God? They resolve this tension by committing it all to the Lord and doing nothing themselves. However, scripture doesn’t call us to be passive. It calls us to plan while seeking God, so that we can act God’s way. It calls us to ask ourselves: are my plans in harmony with God, is my attitude pleasing God, and will it bring glory to God and good to His people? We need to ask these questions honestly. We need to be ready to hear God’s answers through Scripture and others. Then we trust God and work hard to go the way He points, even if we would have preferred another way.
