Through Obedience

Exodus 7:1-13
In spite of Moses’ discouragement about the people’s unwillingness to listen to the word of the Lord through him, God does not release Moses from the task. Rather, God reiterates once again the call placed on Moses. Moses and Aaron will partner with God in this work of redemption and deliverance.
The impetus for accomplishing the task, however, continues to lie with God. Moses and Aaron simply must do what the Lord commanded them in full trust that the God of their forefathers and mothers will accomplish the work.
It is no small thing to obey in the face of impossibility. For Moses and Aaron, the stakes are indeed high, not only for themselves but also for thousands upon thousands of people looking to them for leadership.
Our obedience has ripple effects as well. It has the potential to impact those around us and those who will come after us. What fruit might come when we obey in the face of impossibility?
