His Love Endures Forever
August 10th, 2022
Psalm 117:1-2; 118:1-7
Consider this tale of a man from some years ago. He wanted to sail his small boat from the California coast to Santa Catalina Island. He was a novice sailor and the winds were contrary. He was quickly swept out to sea. A series of storms poured rain and high waves over his craft. The storms finally subsided, but the sea continued to roll. He was sick, thirsty, and near starvation. He prayed, of course, but no help appeared. Finally, one morning, he was awakened by a ship’s horn. A fishing trawler found him and brought him aboard. Soon another ship carried him home. A reporter heard of the man and hurried to interview him. He found him on the pier clinging to a large column. Asked why he held on so tightly, the man said, “I just want to hold onto one thing that isn’t moving.” That was when the earthquake hit!
Humorous story? Perhaps. Yet few things in life seem certain anymore. Those that do, relate to God. His love and faithfulness endure forever. Hold on, or it is likely to be a bumpy ride.
