Raised With Christ

Colossians 2:6-15
The sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and baptism unite the body of Christ with God and with one another. Baptism is a symbolic burial and resurrection: buried in Christ and raised with Him. We bury our old way of life and publicly confess our new life in Christ. In baptism we say no to some things and yes to other things. We were dead to sin but made alive in Christ through His blood and baptism. We owed a debt for sin we had no way to pay, but in Christ our IOU was nailed to the cross and paid with His blood.
All this is accomplished through the power of God in whom is all the fullness of creation. His Spirit, wisdom, and glory fill the universe. Christ is not only the head and authority over all, He is the source from which all things exists.
Christ’s victory over sin and death on the cross is sufficient for our salvation. Baptism affirms the believer’s acceptance of salvation and intention to live in obedience to Christ and His Word.
