We Know!
June 26th, 2022
1 John 5:13-21
If an important email or letter is expected, we eagerly await its arrival. We are ready for it. God is always waiting for us to come to Him. He listens to every prayer. However, prayer is more our listening to God than our talking. It is asking God for what He wants, not what we want.
Knowing gives us confidence to approach God. In this scripture passage are four “we knows.” We know God hears us. We know “anyone born of God does not continue to sin” (v. 18). We know “we are children of God” (v. 19). We know “the Son of God has come and has given us understanding” (v. 20). These “we knows” prepare us for the conditions to pray.
Prayer must be in accordance with God’s will. We must live in obedience to His commands. Our hearts must be right with God. We begin our prayers with thanksgiving and praise. We intercede for others, as well as ourselves. We pray in Jesus’ name. Also, we know God needs hands and feet.
