Faith Is Action

Hebrews 11:1-7
“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
Too often, we reduce faith to some sort of individualized, internalized belief. Hebrews is showing us that it is not just that. Abel risked his bank account to worship God. Enoch was likely seen as a religious fanatic by family and friends. Noah was seen as a religious fanatic by family and friends.
Faith demands us living it out, in the public square. It demands that we are so faithful to God, that those around us may think we are nutty or off. Faith is such a radical confidence in God, that living in God’s patterns and call is worth it because we have confidence in what His call on our life is. We sense an assurance that our trust will be vindicated when God sees our living out what He called us to do. This may set us apart from the pattern of this world, but it will be vindicated when the God we trust becomes fully known as the God of all creation.
