Follow The Example of Paul
July 5th, 2021
2 Thessalonians 3:1-9
Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3 states that the Lord is faithful, provider, and the strength the people of Thessalonica need. These words are not only meant for the church in Thessalonica, but for anyone who reads them. God is faithful, provider, and strength.
Paul reminds the people in Thessalonica to follow his own example. He set the example of doing his own work (tent making) when he was ministering to the people in Thessalonica and the various other churches that he planted. He did this to set himself apart from other travelers who would take advantage of people by asking them for money in exchange for preaching.
In the 21st century it is difficult to hear someone encourage others to follow his/her example. It feels a little arrogant, but what Paul desired was to live like Christ and be held accountable to live like Christ. So much so, he wanted to be the best example of Christ that he could be and in doing so point others to Christ.
