Hope Glasses

Ephesians 1:15-23
Some videos guarantee a smile and sometimes a tear from our faces. Videos of soldiers returning to their loved ones are a great example. Another video is the image of the deaf who hears for the first time. My favorite is those babies who receive glasses and see their parents for the first time. The smile, the laughter is contagious; we become emotional with that sight. In those videos, what moves us is that those who were hopeless receive hope.
When we see someone finding Jesus for the first time, we too become emotional because of the hope they have found. The scripture tells us: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you” (Ephesians 1:18a). Like those babies with new glasses, we can open our eyes and see the hope that was already there, the hope we have been promised and delivered.
So, we need to open the eyes of our heart, let go of the worldly distractions and focus on the call of God in our lives.
