Refining The Edge
May 7th, 2021
Ephesians 2:1-10
I’ve played drums since my school days, marched in college, and taught percussion, both as a private instructor and at various public schools. Beyond these experiences, I have started building drums. Once you have the shell, you must choose and add the hardware. Measurements must be taken (twice), holes drilled (once). A finish for the outside must be selected and applied. While all this is necessary, and can make for a beautiful drum, it is the bearing edge that makes it sound beautiful. That tiny edge on which the drumhead sits is very important. If you get it wrong, the drum is a flop and not useful. Get it right and the drum can be amazing!
We are much like my drums in God’s hands. He carefully selects us and equips us with the right hardware. If we allow God, He creates in us the perfect edge so that we might ring true with God’s love (and others can hear that beauty!).
Allow God to refine your edges today so that you may be a beautiful testament to Christ.
