Always & Forever
April 24th, 2021
2 Timothy 2:1-13
The concept of forever is impossible for us to fully understand. Our perception and practice of faithfulness is limited and flawed. We cancel commitments easily. We’re quickly offended and sever relationships over disagreements or misunderstandings. We bounce around from one responsibility to another, dismayed by inadequate results.
Paul’s words to Timothy remind us God is faithful, even in the midst of our unfaithfulness. He will honor our decision to “disown” Him, to break relationship and walk away. He does not demand our fellowship. But within companionship, our missteps and mistakes, our own failures and fickleness will not, cannot deter Him, for He is faithful.
This may be a mystery to us mortal and finite creatures. But we can dare to trust and hope in a faithful God. He will not cancel plans, sever relationship, or bounce around. He will remain steadfast. May this spur us on, knowing that God in Christ is the Author and Finisher.
